We Are A Church That Believes in Serving

Because  the love of reaching others that has been inborn in our own body, since we are a mission church, Church 213 believes in being a giving, sending, sharing church.  The Purpose Statement of our Mission Ministry is “to share, love, teach and grow disciples of Christ from across the street to around the world.”  Our Church 213 Mission Team plans and organizes mission opportunities for those interested in serving one day or two weeks, locally or abroad.

Ongoing Opportunities

“Someone Cares” is a ministry that reaches out to the imprisoned through encouraging letter writing. Coordinated through the Newton County Sheriff’s Department, this ministry reminds those that are incarcerated that they are prayed for and remembered.

Contact Marie Botkin at [email protected] for more information.

“The Garden of Gethsemane” is Newton County’s shelter for the homeless and Church 213 provides cooks several times a month for the residents of the shelter.  If you are interested in cooking at the shelter, contact Nancy Patterson at [email protected] for more info.

Honoring Our Heros” is a new ministry reaching out to first responders (fire and police) in the Newton County area.  This ministry is in the beginning stages so you can be a part of the initial phases of planning! Contact Buster Butler at 678-409-5446 for more information.

Loving The Legacy Givers” is a ministry to serve and share with the residents of The Merryvale Assisted Living Home.  Planned activities and meeting basic needs of the elderly who live here will be two of the focuses of this ministry.  Contact Jeanie Moore at 706-816-8386 if you would like to be involved.

Annual Opportunities

“Georgia War Veterans’ Home” Outreach has been a ministry of Church 213 for the past three years and one that is widely loved.  Each February, we provide a party for the residents of this facility who are all veterans that have seen active combat for our country.  Contact Denise Flis at [email protected] for more info.

“Operation Christmas Child”, a ministry of Samaritan’s Purse, is a ministry we support every October where members pack shoeboxes to send to disadvantaged children all over the world.  Contact our church office at 770-385-6304 for more info.

2018 Mission Trips

Three mission trip opportunities will be available during 2018.

  1. During the dates of June 24 – July 6 a trip to Zambia, Africa is planned with a three-fold purpose.  The group will provide spiritual teaching to a group of pastors and lay leaders during a Leadership Conference, teach in a local village  and share at the Global Samaritans Orphanage.  The cost of the trip is approximately $3000.  Contact Pastor Stan at [email protected] for more info.

Since 1999 Pastor Stan has been leading a group of volunteers on a mission trip to Zambia Africa for three primary reasons: A children’s orphanage located in Livingston, to go out into the bush and spread the gospel, and to encourage local African church leaders through a Pastor’s Conference.  In April 2011, our team also lead a ‘Youth Event’ for the Livingston Children’s Orphanage.  It was an experience that included great teaching, worship, games, etc. We also minister to the Orphanage workers, as well as the villages in the bush, with supplies and gifts.

Bold Mission Builders

2. We will partner with Bold Mission Builders in January for a trip to Honduras to minister to orphans at the Casa de Nain home for boys and the Project Talitha Cumi home for girls.  The dates are January 27 through February 3 and the cost is between $1,200 and $1,500.  You can contact BMB Coordinator Joel Brown at [email protected] for more info.

3. During the summer of 2018, a family friendly missions trip opportunity will be offered in conjunction with Bold Missions Builders.  This trip will be located in the state of Georgia and is an excellent way to introduce children and youth to the concept of family missions.  More info will be available at a later date as projects are scheduled.
